Development features of Indigo kids

Eventually, for different reasons, our children’s brain began to mature much more slowly. But, by the moment of their maturing (15-16.5 years old), such children show abilities which were revealed formerly at few individuals. These abilities give them huge advantage over their parents. However realization of these abilities depends both on the education level of parents and their readiness to devote more time to children and on the social environment as a whole (infant schools, school and friends).

Our general problem is to help these new children to adapt to the reality of our life. It is not necessary to change the children themselves; one should change for them the world in which they will soon be its owners.

1st stage (children under five)

Our children have become absolutely different!

Mothers, especially those who have given birth to the second child, are amazed by an unusually intelligent glance of the child from his (or her) first days. Formerly, there have not been such things.

New children often remember themselves and events of the first months of their life. At older age your child, as if by the way, can tell you in detail about events he witnessed at an earlier age.

At older age he starts to demand respect to himself as to a regal person. Formerly, this fact was an exception.

Sometimes the children make foreknowledge statements such as:

— It is no use for grandfather to go to the parking place (or bus stop) to meet grandmother; she is already in the elevator.

From time to time they can tell things like this:

— Mommy, why are you going to call aunt Ann? (Mother suggests: Does my daughter read my thoughts?).

Every year in increasing frequency some of them mention one of their previous incarnations. Formerly, there have not been such things, at least so often. But, if parents pull up the child with words such as «Stop to talk nonsense!», «You are such a fibber!», «Stop to concoct!» the child ability to concoct is blocked.

At harmoniously developing mutual relations in a family, the child can unexpectedly say that he sees color light around people (aura), or «funny little boys and girls with wings as of a dragonfly (elfs)» with which he can play for hours, and the like.

These new children painfully react to insincerity and hypocrisy of adults. They also sharply feel unfairness to themselves and to their relatives. The criteria of justice in this case are universal values.

As a result of slower development of a brain, approximately 60% of the children start to speak much later than we or their senior brothers and sisters did. In 90% of all cases their speech restores spontaneously without any help of defectologists and logopedists. The criterion of spontaneous cortical speech areas maturation is a normal and intelligible speech of both parents. It is desirable to apply to a speech therapist in case some adults in child surroundings have speech troubles (burr, stutter).

About 15 to 20% of children start to speak very early.

One more feature of the new children is that they have multivariate thinking while the consecutive and linear thinking (A→B→C→D) prevails for the majority of adults.

That is why they master easily a new model of a mobile phone or new computer games.

In connection with this feature, such children, putting «strange» questions, try to define a place for each portion of new information in their multivariate private world.

On the other hand many children gain «advertising video» thinking which means fragmentary perception and processing of received information, not as a single whole system of outlook. For a child it means just the same — to get in a car or in another part of the city, to get in a plane or to another country.

Thus, the whole complex of these features leads to the problems connected with «linear» educational systems such as child institutions and schools where the children feel bored because their own world is much richer.

2nd stage (children from 5 to 14)

The Indigo children are ambidexters

At the age from five and a half to fourteen the brain of the child, still unripe, is violently compelled to perceive large volumes of information which they cannot process in principle. This huge stream of information includes TV, DVD records, trips and weekends with parents, public transport trips, lessons in children’s preschools (instead of developing training), tutors, too complicated school syllabuses, etc.

All this in increasing frequency results in failures of adaptation, neurosises, psychosomatic disorders, hatred to school, etc.

If one applies a metaphor «biocomputer» to these children, the right-handers and lefthanders use different operating systems. It is like Windows or Linux. Work with a text in any operational system gives the identical result, especially on a printer irrespective of the systems which may differ markedly in processing methods and structurization of information. The final result is the same, so it is no use to dispute «who is cleverer», the right-handers or the lefthanders.

But, as for our children, it is more astonishing. It seems our new children have two operational systems installed: both Windows and Linux!!

In psychophysiology this phenomenon is called ambidextrism, and the Indigo children are ambidextrous (from Latin ambi — double, dextrum — right-hand. In short, by their brain operation they are simultaneously right-handers and lefthanders with predominance of right hand for some of them (dextrality) or left hand for the others (sinistrality).

This situation leads to some very specific problems in a period of intensive brain development at the age of 5 to 14.

It is a huge disadvantage at elementary school! It may be compared with a conflict of operational systems Windows 95 and Windows 98. At that time computers such as IBM 486 were not powerful enough, and installation of two operational systems simultaneously resulted in «hang-up» or failure of programs. The entire computer world blamed Bill Gates for that situation.

At present, with modern computers all (all!) versions of operational systems can be installed. The usual lay user simply may not know about it!

But, the matter is even more interesting. As for our children, because of immaturity of the brain interhemispheric relationship, switching the right and left cerebral hemisphere operational systems occurs spontaneously!

For example, the child has learnt a poem with his mother in the evening, and this «file» was installed in «operational system W». In the morning, at school he could not recollect the poem (mothers, do you recognize the situation?) because this file was in «operational system L». After lessons his mother inquires if he told the poem at school.

— No, I didn’t.

— You don’t say! Well, tell the poem now! And the child tells it fluently (his brain has switched back to «operational system W»).

— Well done! And what new was at your school lessons?

— I do not remember.

But the explanation is really easy. The file with a new teaching material at this moment is in «operational system D». Mother as well as the teacher wrongly thinks that the child is stupid or obstinate, or he does it to spite the teacher, etc.

In about twenty minutes the child suddenly recollects everything and tells mother all school news.

It appears that the «school» and «domestic» files are scattered on different folders in different operational systems. For these children it results in the mosaicity of perception.

So, if in a junior school ambidexterity is a drawback, in the upper school it is a great advantage. Both cerebral hemispheres are actively involved in information processing. The study process comes too easily to these teenagers if, of course, by that time they did not have a steady aversion for their study.

But, the matter is even more unusual. The point is that there may be short-term switching off their attention or, for some children, consciousness.

Many Indigo children have regular short-term loss of consciousness

Immaturity of children’s brain and information overloads result in an extreme nervous exhaustion of Vvedensky parabiosis type with its leveling and paradoxical phases1.

The leveling phase of brain activity happens when strong and weak signals are perceived equally. In the paradoxical phase a strong signal is perceived as a weak one, and a weak signal as a strong one. Parents know that it is useless to shout at such child — it looks like he «does not hear». As for school lessons, the slightest noise diverts the child’s attention from his studies.

The Indigo children may have regular absans (Latin) type losses of consciousness, and they do not aware of such process. In a metaphor «biocomputer» the situation reminds pressing the button «reset» — warm boot. At this moment the brain of the child is relaxing and restoring its power.

Indigo children face difficulties in reading

Yes, these children face difficulties in reading and sometimes so serious, right up to dyslexia (they hardly understand what have been read) and even to alexia (complete misunderstanding of the read text). The process of reading is connected with large energy consumption, fast brain exhaustion and common fatigability. That is why children in every way possible avoid reading on their own, and a number of children who do not like to read are growing. As a rule, this process is accompanied by various degrees of illiteracy in writing irrespective of languages (Russian, Armenian, English, etc.). We revealed at such children so called «broken mirror phenomenon» and «slide off glance phenomenon»2.

Indigo children often have birth damages of a cervical spine

In Russia 95% of children have expressed birth damages of a cervical spine, in other countries this quantity is lower. Because of different obstetric aid, the lowest figure is registered for children of China and Southeast Asia. The disposition of a neck-bones results in permanent blood supply disturbance of the brain which leads particularly to vegetovascular (neurocirculatory) dystonia. The vegetovascular dystonia is also connected with intracranial pressure fluctuations when it may be higher or lower than the corporeal pressure. The result is the polar behavior of the child (from absolute composure and inactivity to aggressive attacks or running at home to the point of exhaustion).

So, the present-day children are characterized by the following objective factors of school difficulties:

  • the mosaic and non-uniform maturing of a brain;
  • information overloads resulting in a nervous exhaustion;
  • ambidexterity which at a given stage of the child development is a disadvantage (but at a later time will be an advantage);
  • various signs of attention disturbances up to its short-term switching off.

The total result is expressed in low efficiency of usual tutoring and old methods of teaching.

In essence, the purpose of our portal (www.deti-indigo.ru) is the development of methods and ways to assist new children to perceive educational information, and also, an experience exchange. For example, it may be teaching children and adults reading with use of N. Zaitsev’s bricks, new films and articles about Indigo children, and translations of books by Lee Carroll and Gen Touber.

3rd stage (15 years old and older)

Our teenagers became absolutely different!

So, if at an elementary school your child («our darling») simply fell behind the usual school program (you remember of the immature brain?), at the age older than fifteen or sixteen and a half when the brain of your child at last has begun mature for perception of these «ideal» school programs, and you get into the field of fundamentally different problems.

Both operational systems perfectly work for your child, and the clock rate of the biocomputer of your child is doubled. It is not absolutely correctly to draw a parallel but it is usually the people who think faster, are considered to be cleverer that is their biocomputer clock rate is higher!

Great! Too easy to study! Such children start to idle, especially if their habits of study have not been formed.

Deviant behavior and drugs

Such children have more spare time; they are able to join some unwanted teenager communities and parties where smoking, alcohol, early sex, drugs and other asocial behavior are considered to be prestigious.

It should be remembered that such children have their attention disturbed or involuntary which leads to a «phenomenon of the broken mirror», distortion of spatial perception, etc.

We distinguish distant and nearby space perception. A PC monitor, keyboard, or book are objects of nearby space perception, while a blackboard, teacher or road which should be crossed are objects of distant space perception.

The «phenomenon of the broken mirror» means that the spaces of perception at Indigo children remind a mirror with one or two vertical cracks and the changed angle of reflection. This phenomenon hinders reading very much but it is not realized and can be revealed only at a special psychophysiologic research.

Unfortunately, even after single dose of heroin, the world becomes integral, bright, celebratory! But even this first injection develops dependence.

In case of spatial perception distortion the distant space is parabolically deformed. So, if you throw a ball directly (face-to-face) to a child, he catches it. And if you throw it from the side, the child will miss it because of the distortion of the spatial perception. This is the reason of spontaneous disappearance of yard games in Russia. In other countries, for example, in the USA, this function is being trained at the lessons of physical training. However, these children do not join the professional sports as they do not fell pleasure in those games.

Driving cars

Young people usually complain about some stereotyped situations when a car unexpectedly comes into their view on crossroads «like a bolt from the blue». As a rule, they have time to react but they understand that sooner or later they may have an accident. They cannot use a right or left rear-view mirror, preferring upper view mirror. At the same time they assert that they see the car but they say it is inconvenient to use the mirror because they cannot evaluate the distance. They cannot cover both the panoramic view of the road situation and a dashboard, and that is why they have to switch attention for a split second from the road to the dashboard. Such perception disadvantages lead to an increased probability of accidents on the roads.

Advantages of ambidextrism

If at an elementary school ambidextrism is a serious obstacle to educational process, in the senior grades, colleges and universities it turns to huge advantage. Taking a biocomputer as a metaphor the teenagers have a hard disk capacity (long-term memory) and a clock rate (processing speed) doubled. Moreover, a year or two ago we began to witness teenagers whose right and left cerebral hemispheres can work independently. That is, according to their assertions, they can «think of two problems simultaneously». Earlier such phenomenon was observed only at especially gifted and ingenious persons.

Indeed, our observations have shown that if such persons are engaged in science, in the future they will be professors and academicians. In the field of management they can become top-managers and directors, in art — stars on posters and TV, in criminal associations — «authority figures». In other words, ambidextrous children potentially have outstanding abilities. Of course, under favorable conditions of their realization.

Reading information from a noosphere (information field of the Earth)

The education system in Russia is now on the brink of serious ordeal. (Pay attention to the fact that the matter concerns not a concrete subject or a teacher but the whole SYSTEM).

It is increasingly obvious degradation of traditional methods of training. We witness more and more the absurdity of the education system focused upon training of children to memorization and inverse translation of information.

For example, the number of children who read hardly or with awful spelling (dyslexia and dysgraphia) is constantly increasing. The reason is that the new children’s brain works differently.

Therefore, in a traditional education system the winner strategically is a person who has better memory but not the one who is cleverer. Teachers usually name the rest of the pupils as «clever, but not self-disciplined».

Since June, 2005, more and more Indigo children somehow get ability to contact the information fields of the Earth (this term was called noosphere by Rissian scientist Vernadsky). Think of such a pupil standing at a blackboard and handling with some figures and facts with confidence. As such children say, «the main thing is to flick through a textbook before a lesson». Every two or three years the number of such pupils doubles.

«Mind reading»

The experts in the field of advertising, political science and public relations complain that the old and approved methods all of a sudden have ceased to be effective; they have become habitual and commonplace for experts. It remains only to be surprised why advertisers still pay money for not effective ads while they understand by intuition that their ads does not work.

As for the new children, they have an intuitive and delicate perception of any insincerity and even a barefaced lie of their interlocutor. It is not necessary to be a seer to understand that in the nearest years the famous gasbags and demagogues among politicians will disappear, and lying advertising and publicity will cease to function. In the near future the growing number of such new children will take part in election campaign to cast their vote for more sincere and honest politicians.

It is a pleasure to see what remarkable experts will come to train personnel, to manage human and technical resources! You should pay attention on the fact that by now the average management personnel in private and state organizations consists of 23-29 years old young men and women. The educational level is of no importance; simply they are cleverer than we, their parents.

Thus, we witness a worldwide evolutionary leap, and our task is to understand new children and to have time to adapt to them as before long they will be the owners of the Earth.

1. Russian physiologist N. Vvedensky, a scientific teacher of Ivan Pavlov, introduced term parabiosis in 1901.

2. The «phenomenon of the broken mirror» means fragmentary perception of the outward things. The «slide off glance phenomenon» means a loss of text lines at reading. . (Patent USA No 7,309,125. Dec 18,2007. Vladimir Pugach et al. «Method and apparatus for detecting abnormalities in spatial perception»).
